The Star Inn folk club has been going in its present format for 10 years or so, after its revival by Mick Smith. It attracts poets and singers from up and down the Greater Manchester area and beyond, and remains a platform for differing performers each first Wednesday of the month. Using the money collected from name cards, it affords a named guest every 6 months.

The most pleasing thing about the folk session is the open policy, which sees a different set of performers each month. It’s also free, has quality ale, and is acoustic in nature. Come down for a session that is fun and always unique in this “hidden gem” of a community owned and run pub in the back streets of Salford!
